Sewer backups are becoming much more frequent because everyone is spending more time at home and trying to get rid of all the sanitizer wipes and flushable wipes they are using. Lines and lift stations are more susceptible to clogs and backups with all the non-flushable items being flushed.
Sewer backups are expensive to fix, and many are avoidable by just not flushing bad things. Think twice before flushing items and if you are not sure, then take the precautionary step of putting the item in the trash. Operations staff are already seeing an increase in the number of items that should not be flushed that are clogging the filters.
