A Message from the City of Ponderay
This is the 18th year of our Santa Sack Project aimed at giving memories to the children of Ponderay & Kootenai. We began years ago by sending out Santa Claus on a fire truck into the neighborhoods of Ponderay and handing out a simple bag of candy. It was clear from those early days that there was a greater need than a small bag with candy, so the elves began stuffing hand-sewn stockings to give to the children little items of personal care.
In the past 17 years, this project has grown so much that Santa now hands out to each child a bag filled with all those goodies you might remember as a child in your stocking. A few years ago, Santa began going to the senior apartments with sacks for the seniors. The need was always there we just needed to see it and address it. We are so appreciative of all the help we have received from our business community and our residents. Neighbors helping neighbors has always made this project so successful.
We have come to you, our loyal businesses and friends, year after year to ask for your assistance and your generous donations and you have never let us down. We have always received more than our greatest expectations! We are so proud of the success of this project and the great memories you have made for so many people in Ponderay & Kootenai. If you are interested in helping with this wonderful project by donating items or cash to help fill the 2021 Santa Sacks, it would be so appreciated. We need any donations no later than Dec. 10th. Your donations as always will be staying in our community and will be delivered personally by Santa and Mrs. Claus.
