Public Budget Hearing

The Kootenai-Ponderay Sewer District’s governing board held a Public Budget Hearing Monday, August 24, 2020, as posted in the Daily Bee, District Office, May Newsletter,  KPSD Facebook, and KPSD Web Page.  The meeting was held for the purpose of hearing public comments regarding proposed increases for monthly sewer charges and fees, the revised 2019-2020 District Budgets, and the 2020-2021 District Budgets.

The budgets and proposed increases were passed by the Board.  The new fees are effective immediately.  The new rates go into effect at the beginning of the next quarter, October 1, 2020. The reason for these actions is that increased operating revenue is needed to meet operating and maintenance costs of the system, to fund the ongoing depreciation of the system, and to bring other fees more reasonably inline with current costs.

Copies of the approved budgets are available at the District Office or on our web page for your review.  No members of the public attended the hearing and no written comments were received prior to the hearing.

Open House Held for KPSD

The Kootenai-Ponderay Sewer District invited the public to an Open House held on Monday, August 24th from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. to provide information to the public regarding the draft planning document and the proposed options being reviewed by the District to meet the requirements of the current discharge permit.  JUB Engineering’s, Brett Converse, was on hand to present the options that are currently available for KPSD to meet the stringent requirements as set by IDEQ.  Comments will be accepted up thru August 29, 2020. Options being considered are a far lakeshore discharge (lake studies still underway), a membrane mechanical plant installation, or regionalization.

Ponderay Neighbor Days is coming soon!

Saturday, September 19th from 1-6 pm at Harbison Field (behind the Hoot Owl Restaurant)
